Corey McPherson Nash Selected To Provide Branding and Visual Identity Redesign For Boston's Huntington Theatre Company

The Huntington Taps CMN to Help Them Communicate a New Look to Support the Theatre's Expansion in Mission and Operations.

WATERTOWN, MA - July 22, 2003 -- Corey McPherson Nash (CMN/ http://www.cmndesign.com), an award-winning integrated design firm providing branding, advertising, print and interactive services, today announced it has been selected by Boston's Huntington Theatre Company, the city's leading professional theatre, to provide re-branding and a new visual identity for print and online communications.

As part of this branding campaign, CMN will update the Huntington's visual identity with a new logo, new color palette, typeface guidelines and style guide showing applications for stationery, signage, publications and advertising. CMN will also develop positioning and a tag line that encapsulates the Company's vision and differentiates the Huntington from other performing arts groups now and into the future.

"We are passionate about live theatre, and the Huntington account provides an opportunity for CMN to leverage our expertise in branding for the arts and entertainment markets," said Michael McPherson, CMN partner and creative lead for the account. "Our past work for this industry has included work for the Boston Pops, Nickelodeon, MTV, Clear Channel Entertainment and HBO. We're excited about the opportunity to develop positioning and a visual expression for the Huntington that will support the organization as they become an even bigger player in the Boston-and the national-theatre scene."

"We selected CMN based on their understanding of the unique character and personality of the Huntington, and how that personality should be communicated as our organization continues to expand and reach out to new audiences," said Rita McAteer, Director of Marketing for the Huntington Theatre Company. "The Huntington has entered a very exciting period in our history, as we prepare to open two new theatres in 2004, in addition to our present home at the Boston University Theatre. We're very enthusiastic about our partnership with CMN and look forward to working with them to roll out a rebranding campaign that will capture that spirit of expansion of our mission and operations."

The Huntington Theatre Company is Boston's leading professional theatre. In residence at Boston University throughout its 22 year history, the Huntington produces a dazzling array of classic and contemporary plays and musicals for a growing audience of 175,000, including 16,500 subscribers. The Huntington has announced its ambitious agenda for artistic and organizational expansion, including plans to commission, develop, and produce new plays, under the auspices of the Stanford Calderwood Fund for New American Plays. Plans include the building of two new performance spaces in collaboration with the Boston Center for the Arts (BCA), the first new theatres to be built in Boston in more than 75 years. The Huntington will continue to perform primarily at the 890-seat Boston University Theatre on Huntington Avenue.
