David E. Carter Book Highlights Best Design Work from Across America

WATERTOWN, MA - August 18, 2003 -- Corey McPherson Nash (CMN/ http://www.cmndesign.com), an award-winning integrated design firm providing branding, advertising, print and interactive services, today announced two of its logo designs have been selected for inclusion in the Harper Design International book, The Big Book of Color in Design, edited by noted corporate identity authority, David E. Carter. This book, featuring the best design work from around the world, focuses on color as a tool to create moods and symbolic images and is categorized into 30 different sections, such as "classy," "hot," "regal" or "corporate." Each section features current graphic design projects that fit into these moods.

CMN's logo design for Tribeca Software was honored in the "corporate" category and From the Top was honored in the "vintage" category. For Tribeca Software, developers of software for systems integration, CMN played off the initials of the company to symbolize the strength of its technology. The letter "T" becomes the primary structure while a smaller "S" comprises the base. The color blue underscores Tribeca's competence.

From the Top features young classical talent and airs on over 130 public radio stations. Challenged to create a logo appealing to both young musicians and older listeners, CMN used a microphone to evoke nostalgia for the old radio shows and represent the interview segments of the broadcast. Lines emanating from the microphone feel like sound pouring out and help enrich the "star quality" touch. A vibrant color palette of blue and deep yellow keep the tone fun and lively.

"There are very few books on color in design; no other takes this approach while showing so many current examples of how to use color effectively in logo design," said Andrea Naddaff, vice president of new business development for CMN. "We're pleased two examples of our work have been selected as representing some of the best logo design being done today in America."

The Big Book of Color in Design's editor, David E. Carter, has edited more books on the topic of logos and corporate identity than anyone in the world. To date, he has written or edited nearly 90 books on the topic of corporate identity. Carter has also conducted seminars internationally on corporate identity.
