CMN Hires New Creative Director

MARIO AVILA JOINS COREY MCPHERSON NASH AS NEWEST CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Avila Brings Big Agency and Retail Brand Expertise to CMN

WATERTOWN, Mass. - Jan. 26, 2005 -- Corey McPherson Nash (CMN/ http://www.cmndesign.com), an award-winning integrated design firm providing branding, advertising, print and interactive services, today announced that Mario Avila has joined the company as its newest creative director. Avila brings big brand design experience to the table through his work with marquee clients such as Bloomingdales, FAO Schwarz, Gymboree, Macy's and The Limited Express. Avila also brings new insight and direction to the firm, having worked at Ambrosi, the nation's leading retail and catalog agency.

"We are thrilled to have Mario join our team," said Michael McPherson, CMN partner and creative director. " At CMN, we are proud of our ability to create strong and integrated brand identities for our clients across all media. Mario's unique creative talent, coupled with his ability to execute and deliver top-quality design solutions for his clients, make him a perfect fit with our studio. He also expands our capabilities in consumer retail, an area we are interested in growing."

Prior to joining CMN, Avila was creative consultant for Ambrosi, where he helped direct the restructuring of the company's creative department. He also collaborated on strategic development of ad campaigns with Think Advertising, a division of Ambrosi.

Before coming to CMN, Avila founded and managed his own design firm, Mario Avila Design, specializing in brand development, advertising and collateral. Avila's clients included Village of Merrick Park (Coral Gables), Olian Maternity, WDNA-FM, Wet Seal and Esprit.

Avila also spent four years with Hershey Communications where he served as vice president and creative director. At Hershey, he led the creative direction for the company's advertising campaigns, TV commercials, collateral materials and identity programs for retail clients. He also supervised the creative departments for both Hershey's California and New York offices.

"I'm excited to be a part of the CMN team," said Avila. "I've worked with both established and start-up design organizations. CMN is one firm that brings the discipline and process of a larger firm, yet encourages the creativity and energy of a start-up. I look forward to bringing fresh ideas to the table with this experienced team of designers."

His design career began in 1978 as a freelance graphic designer for leading brand companies such as Bloomingdale's, The New York Times, Gray Advertising, Marke Communications and Ogilvy&Matter. After several years, Avila was brought on board by Macy's NY as its art director, where he oversaw the company's fashion and beauty direct mail catalogues. Avila also worked with fashion moguls Bloomingdale's, Spiegel and The Limited Express.

Avila graduated from Parson's School of Design with a B.F.A. in graphic design and illustration. He also attended the Arts Student League in New York. Avila has also be honored by the industry's leading design publications, earning him awards for excellence in art direction and typography from Print, Graphis, HOW, Creativity, Communications Arts and the RAC (Retail Advertising Conference) annuals.
